The top 10 inspiring female influencers - March's edition

On the 8th of March, we celebrated International Women's Day, which reminded us of how important gender equality is to the world. The theme of this year’s day was #EachforEqual where we realized that ‘An equal world is an enabled world’. So to showcase the diversity, strength, inspiration, love, perseverance and many more aspects that women around the world today bring to humanity, we have put together our top 10 influencers who have made a difference in the fight for equality.

1. Megan Jayne Crabbe (United States)

Megan Jayne Crabbe was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa at the age of 14 and at her thinnest, weighed a dangerous 28 kgs. Since recovering, she has formed a large online following and uses her platform to inspire body confidence as she says “body positivity has the power to save lives.” She shares anti-diet tips and is a believer in fat acceptance and intersectional body positivity. Her #1 bestselling debut book, Body Positive Power, has taught thousands of men and women how to make peace with their bodies for good.

2. Em Ford (United Kingdom)

The standards that the beauty industry hold, according to Em Ford, are in need of desperate change. It started in 2015 when the model started suffering from severe acne. Em turned to Instagram and YouTube to address negative comments written about her. This action was widely applauded by millions of people due to her ability to be open. Ever since she has continuously spread the word about the fact that adult acne is normal.  To Em, skin positivity is about accepting the fact that beauty includes suffering from skin problems and that everyone should love themselves regardless.

3. Iskra Lawrence (United Kingdom)

Iskra was always told that she would never make it in the model industry because“she did not have a typical model body”. Ten years later, not only is Ikra the face for the American Eagle Outfitters lingerie line Aerie, but she is also one of the most popular body positivity activists globally. Her mission was and still is to change the perception of women in the media by educating young women about how to navigate the unrealistically glossy images they are confronted with every day. Nika Vodvud, also known as NixelPixel, was the first Russian influencer to openly talk about feminism and her relationship on YouTube. She spreads reliable information on feminism history, women’s rights while also providing relationship advice. Her videos about ladies’ hygiene and sex are posted alongside her lifestyle content. In addition,  Nika gained a credible audience from all around the country, as her followers see her as a trustworthy friend where they can gain knowledge and support.

5. Flex Mami (Australia)

Lillian Ahenkan is a well-known Australian TV-Host and Instagram blogger. She and her best friend, Bobo Matjila, openly talk about psychology, discuss mental health and women’s empowerment on their podcast, Bobo and Flex. Lillian is not afraid to be herself and inspire her followers to believe in their true self. Recently, she launched her first board-game, ReFlex, aiming to develop small talk skills and bring groups together.

The 24-year-old American born dancer, Precious, took her first ballet lesson aged eight and hasn’t looked back since. If there is one Brazilian woman to look at, it is Djamila. She is a philosopher who became one of the main voices in the fight against racism. With courage and knowledge, the writer shows why the fight against discrimination should be a priority for all of us. Her voice echoes far beyond social media. She is constantly present in debates for women’s rights and fighting for diversity and inclusion. She also gives feminists workshops for companies and TV programs. And also is representing Latin American Women’s fight around the world.
